My name is Yu Du and I am a sophomore at Columbia College. I visited Japan over the summer and stayed there for 10 days. My mother and I both loved Japanese culture and food. Moreover, we were impressed by how kind and polite people are towards each other. The only regret was that I couldn't speak any Japanese other than おはようございます and あぃがとございます. Another reason why I wanted to learn Japanese is that I hope to be able to speak all three East Asian languages Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Since I am from China, I am already fluent in Chinese. I learned Korean last year, and I decided to study Japanese this semester. The Japanese course I am taking now has a heavy workload. I found it challenging to memorize new vocabularies and hiragana at the same time. Although the course is quite intense, I enjoy the class time a lot and made friends with my classmates. I am excited to learn more ...
